“I’d like to thank you for the recent training received on MHFA at Royal Victoria Place. We had the opportunity to practice this yesterday, when we spoke with a very upset person. Without the training, it would have been really quite challenging for us to know how to approach this situation, so thank you.”

Mental Health First Aid trainingBecome a Mental Health First Aider

Mental Health Resource is delighted to offer on-site Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) classes, delivered by our approved Instructor who has been accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, helping you to take a proactive approach to mental health issues and qualifying you as a Mental Health First Aider.

What is MHFA?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.MHFA won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening. Each participant will be awarded a certificate in Mental Health First Aid.

The aim of a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is to:

  • give everyone the knowledge and confidence to recognise signs of mental health problems
  • encourage someone to seek the right help
  • reduce the stigma around mental illness.
