News and events News World Mental Health Day 2021 World Mental Health Day 2021. World Mental Health Day takes place on 10 October, and for 2021 the theme is "mental health in an unequal world". The goal is to help raise mental health awareness and each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people living with mental illness can live better lives with dignity. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on people’s mental health in Kent. Some of our clients, including health and other frontline workers, people living alone, the elderly and those with pre-existing mental health conditions, have been particularly affected. Faced with new realities of working from home, temporary unemployment, home-schooling of children, and lack of physical contact with other family members, friends and colleagues, it is important that we look after our mental, as well as our physical, health. How is Mental Health Resource working towards mental health care for all? Our vision is to see improved mental wellbeing for everyone and our projects are designed to make people feel supported, valued and connected. We provide free and non-judgemental person-centred care for anyone over the age of 13. Our projects are varied to suit all interests. Activities include walking groups, men's and women's talking groups, creative writing, land art and craft, the allotment and more, as well as 1-2-1 counselling and a safe space to talk. People can self-refer to our services and access care for as long as they need. How can you support Mental Health Resource on World Mental Health Day? During the day, we will be sharing stories and facts about the inequalities people affected by mental illness face and what Mental Health Resource is doing to change these situations.
