National Lottery Community Fund logoTime 4 U volunteers

We are currently recuiting 'Time 4 U' volunteers' to become befrienders to people in their homes who cannot come to the Hub or access any other service provision.

‘Time 4 U’ is a new outreach project run by Mental Health Resource, which has been set up with funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund to provide companionship and support to the socially isolated members of our community living with a mental health condition.

By becoming a befriender to those who need, volunteers will provide a supportive ear and encourage positive thinking and growth.  All potential activities will be assessed by a member of staff and communicated in advance, so each volunteer will know what support is required.

‘Time 4 U’ Volunteer Activities

Once a week, a Time 4 U volunteer can visit a client in their own home and

  • make cups of tea/coffee and have a chat.
  • read or help with simple form filling or administration
  • accompany clients on a walk around the local area,
  • help with trips to the local shops
  • lend support to access local services.

All Volunteers will receive extensive support and training in return for their commitment to the post.

Who are we looking for?

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who would like to gain more skills, receive training in areas such as first aid, food hygiene + health and safety or look towards a care qualification. • An ability to communicate well and engage with others.
  • Reliable and friendly
  • Ability to respect an individual’s needs for confidentiality
  • Ability to travel, around the area, either using own car or public transport

Time commitment

  • Each visit will be expected to last for approximately 1 hr per week.
