Social Media Volunteer

We have an exciting opportunity to support Mental Health Resource with managing our various social media channels, with the aim to maximise engagement, promote our services & funding events and help raise awareness of mental health issues.

Overview

Mental Health Resource has seen huge leaps and bounds over the past few years with engagement with our social media channels. Presently, the Fundraising and Marketing Manager manages the platforms, which include Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, however, as their current priority currently lies with community fundraising, we would like to invite a passionate, skilled and experienced Social Media Volunteer to take on the responsibility of growing our online presence.

Why do we need you?

Our online presence is crucial to building relationships within the community and reaching new clients who might need our support with their mental health. A social media volunteer would play an integral role in making sure we are reaching those who need us during these challenging times.

In return, we offer learning and development opportunities including training, valuable insight into the mental health charity sector and a friendly environment to meet new people.

What are your key responsibilities?

This is an exciting opportunity to support our small charity with your social media skills with the aim of raising mental health awareness, promoting our services and funding events and assisting in managing multi-media platform marketing campaigns.

As the a social media volunteer, your role will be to:


• Be familiar with the work of Mental Health Resource
• Liaise with the Fundraising and Marketing Manager to plan scheduled promotions and campaigns which align with the charity’s social media objectives
• Build on the charity’s social media strategy eg frame messages around the charity’s brand.
• Actively promote Mental Health Resource on social media (eg. charity updates/ events/ mental health info /national campaigns)
• Develop social media posts to attract new individual donors/ supporters using platforms including Canva, Lumen 5 etc)
• Source and create new content from staff, volunteers, clients and supporters.
• Regularly check social media posts & like, comment, respond where necessary.
• Be aware of current and breaking mental health news items and being able to respond appropriately with guidance
• To work within the boundaries of Mental Health Resource’s Social Media policy
• Commit to a minimum involvement of 6 months.

What skills and experience are we looking for?


• Committed to Mental Health Resource’s mission and values
• No professional/academic qualification required but must be able to demonstrate experience of using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and Canva to create templates for social media posts.
• Good communication, creative and interpersonal skills
• Confident in liaising with staff
• A flexible and organised approach to work
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Ability to write about mental health issues in an informed and sympathetic manner.

What commitment do we need?

The role requires someone who is able to commit to volunteering for one day a week.
