"We were just amazed by the response we received from members of the audience and even more so to find that we had doubled our initial target of £1000. Mark would have been totally delighted with the amount raised, and that it will be used to help such a worthy cause." Annie, Matchbox Opera.

An Opera Classics Concert, performed by Matchbox Opera on Saturday 28th April at King Charles the Martyr Church in Tunbridge Wells, has raised over £2000!

The concert, held in memory of Matchbox Opera member, Dr Mark Pasola who died in 2023, included arias, duets and ensembles from The Marriage Of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Tosca, Rigoletto and La Boheme. Singers from the Matchbox Opera were joined by tenor, Richard Rowe, who has worked with Scottish opera, and international accompanists, Jong-Gyung Park and Anthony Zerpa-Falcon.

Founded in 2002, Matchbox Opera regularly staged intimate opera in and around Tunbridge Wells, until the pandemic. Saturday’s concert was an evening to honour the memory of Dr Pasola and to raise funds for mental health awareness, an issue close to his heart.

Thank you to everyone who made the night possible and to everyone who donated!
